Combining the strength of the Russian School of dance with the Cuban influence of fluid movement, rhythm, and passion, the Academy of the Kentucky Ballet Theatre provides instruction in the finest of ballet styles.
Training begins with Creative Movement. This teaches the youngest boys and girls the relationship between music and movement.
Teaching continues with serious classical ballet training designed to develop strong technique. Emphasis is placed on development of the entire body to produce a dancer with strength and grace.
KBT offers a complete pre-professional curriculum of advanced training and performance opportunities. The program prepares highly qualified students for professional careers in ballet. We offer a unique opportunity to advanced level students to participate at a Corps level, sharing the stage with the professional company in the company productions. Upon graduation, select students may be invited to join the company in our trainee program.
