Heather MartinezMrs. Martinez, a native of Providence, RI, received her dance training at the Festival Ballet Center of Dance Education. In 2001, she placed in the top ten of the Senior Classical Ballet Division of the national finals of the Youth American Grand Prix, and received a scholarship to study at the Washington School of Ballet summer intensive program.

Mrs. Martinez danced for seven years with Festival Ballet Providence, performing a varity of roles including Micaela in Carmen, Sugar Plum Fairy, Snow Queen, and Arabian in The Nutcracker, Pas de Trois in Sleeping Beauty, Juliet in Yves de Bouteiller’s Romeo and Juliet, Zobeide in Scheherazade, as well as Balanchine’s Rubies and Allegro Brillante, and Plotnikov’s Tension and Beauty and Coma among others. Most recently Mrs. Martinez was a guest artist with Dance Alive National Ballet for the 2009-2010 season, performing Dew Drop Fairy in The Nutcracker, Giselle, Grand Pas Classique and other contemporary works.

Mrs. Martinez is married to dancer Eivar Martinez, and had their first child three years ago. This is her second season with Kentucky Ballet Theatre.
