Information for Schools

Kentucky Ballet Theatre offers three types of school programs.

We present special performances of Act II of The Nutcracker at our Lexington performance venue. Schedules and prices are usually announced a few months before the production dates. Nutcracker 2007 school shows are Wednesday, December 12, at 10 a.m. and Thursday, December 13, at 10 a.m. at the Lexington Opera House. School shows are approximately one hour in length. Ticket prices are $6. Contact Larry Neuzel, school Show Coordinator, at 859.272.3732.

If our company is presenting a ballet production through our outreach program, we can work with local schools to negotiate a special school performance of that production.

For schools requiring a program that follows KERA’s core content, rather than a ballet performance, we offer dedicated school programs that can be structured for any grade level from kindergarten through twelfth grade. School programs range from 45 minutes to all-day workshops, and can be scheduled during normal school hours. Teacher input is welcome. Costs for school programs typically range from $300 to $1200, plus travel expenses for programs outside Fayette County. A stage or gymnasium floor must be provided, along with seating for the students.

Interested schools may call the KBT studio, and our school show coordinator will work with you to determine which of our programs best suits your needs.
