Claire Gorham, Trainee II
Claire was born in Nicholasville, Kentucky, and began dancing before she was two. At three, she
joined Wilmore Christian School of Ballet, and trained with them for twelve years. During these years, she also performed in productions by Lexington Dance Factory, Winchester Christian Ballet, and Gloria Deo School of the Arts. Claire has attended summer intensives at Southold Dance Theater, Houston Ballet, Next Generation Ballet, and Atlanta Ballet.
After her intensive at Next Generation Ballet in Florida, she moved there to join them as a trainee for the 2018/19 season. She spent her year in Florida performing as Clara, Chinese, and Palace Attendant in “The Nutcracker,” second movement corps de ballet in “Western Symphony,” and soloist roles in excerpts from “Le Corsaire.” She also competed in the YAGP semi-finals and placed first in senior contemporary.
Claire spent her next school year at Atlanta Ballet in the pre-professional division. She danced Stars, and, as a company understudy, Waltz of the Flowers in Yuri Possokhov’s Nutcracker. Before the pandemic, she was rehearsing to perform Gamzatti’s variation from “La Bayadere” and other classical pieces for the Spring Concert, as well as the second company’s performance of “The Swan Princess.” Now that she is back home in Kentucky, Claire is excited to be performing with KBT, whose shows she grew up watching.
