Brooke Mello, Apprentice
Brooke Mello started her early training at Carroll County Dance center just outside her hometown of Baltimore, Maryland at the age of seven. In high school she was accepted to The Baltimore School for the Arts with a focus in classical ballet under the direction of Norma Pera. During her time there she studied ballet along with jazz, tap, and various modern styles. After high school, Miss Mello attended Butler University on scholarship where she performed with Butler Ballet and studied pedagogy.
Upon graduation in 2017 with a B.F.A. in dance performance, she was offered a position with Kentucky Ballet Theatre where she began her professional ballet career. Over the years she has performed many roles varying from corps to principal in several ballets including; The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Stars and Stripes, Giselle, and Paquita. She has been fortunate enough to study and perform under choreographers from both the Balanchine and Martha Grahm trust. Her favorite roles at KBT have been “Dracula’s bride” in Dracula and the “Wicked Witch” in the Wizard of Oz.
In addition to teaching at various studios outside of Fayette County, Ms. Mello is on staff with the KBT academy’s junior division and is excited to join the Kentucky Ballet Theatre in her third season. Ms. Mello is once again excited to be a part of “Ballet Under the Stars”.
