From: Lexington, Kentucky
Sponsored by: Chad Walker
Miranda Maas was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. She took her first dance class at the age of 3 and immediately fell in love with ballet. Unfortunately, Miranda was unable to continue dance classes and it wasn’t until the age of 13 when she was able to pursue her love of dance. At the age of 16 Miranda began studying ballet full time at Gloria Deo School of the Arts. Miranda was accepted into Cary Ballet Conservatory in Cary, NC where she did one year post high school training with Mariaelena Ruiz. Miranda was a member of the conservatory’s pre-professional company, Cary Ballet Company. As a student, Miranda participated in Youth America Grand Prix multiple years, performing classical variations such as Lilac Fairy, Don Quixote’s Cupid, and Odette from Swan Lake. Miranda was cast as Esther in an original ballet choreographed and directed by Sarah Henderson, director of Gloria Deo School of the Arts. Sadly, due to the covid pandemic the ballet never debuted. As a student, Miranda also performed in the Nutcracker and had lead roles in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Miranda joined United Ballet Theatre, under the direction of Joseph Gatti, as a trainee for their 2021-22 season. She danced in their production of the Nutcracker and Una Noche de Alegria.
She is excited to be back in her hometown and joining Kentucky Ballet Theatre for the 2022-23 season.
