Kelsey Van Tine, Principal
Kelsey Van Tine was born in Naples, Florida and trained at the Naples Dance Conservatory. In 2009, Ms. Van Tine joined Kentucky Ballet Theatre as an apprentice, and was promoted to company dancer within her first season. At the end of the 2012-13 season she was promoted to Principal dancer by Artistic Director, Norbe Risco. During her time at KBT, Ms. Van Tine has performed not only the entire Kentucky Ballet Theatre repertoire but a wide range of roles in many classical, neoclassical and contemporary works, as well. Some of her favorites include; Le Corsaire, the Wizard of Oz, Beethoven and Calles de Tango.
Ms. Van Tine is proud to have worked with choreographers Anna Patsfall, Roberto Sifontes, Kirt Hathaway, Andres Arambula, and world renowned “Cuban Jewel” Aurora Bosch, to name a few.
In 2017, by invitation, Ms. Van Tine traveled to Cancun, Mexico to perform at the 7th Annual International Encounter of Dance Festival. Also in 2017, she traveled to Camaguey, Cuba for Ballet de Camaguey’s 50th Anniversary Gala, and since returns to Cuba annually to perform with Ballet de Camaguey as a Principal Guest Artist.
This is Ms. Van Tine’s 11th season with Kentucky Ballet Theatre, and she continues to be on staff with the KBT Academy as one of the lead instructors in the Pre-Professional division and private coach. She is also on faculty at Bluegrass Dance Training Center in Richmond, KY as the leading ballet, pointe technique, and guided movement instructor.
