Biography


Sarah LaFountain was born in Lexington, Kentucky and began dancing at the age of eight. She trained at Wilmore Christian Ballet under the direction of Hannah Henderson for nine years. In 2018, she transferred to Gloria Deo School of the Arts where she spent the next two years before joining Kentucky Ballet Theatre Academy to finish her training. Ms. LaFountain attended summer programs at Kentucky Ballet Theatre and Ballet Magnificat in Jackson, MS. She was invited to join Ballet 5:8’s conservatory in Chicago for their 2020-2021 season. Ms. LaFountain performed in multiple classical ballets within her schools including corps de ballet roles in Giselle, Coppelia and Paquita; along with roles in the Nutcracker such as Marzipan, Waltz of the flowers, and Snow Queen. She competed with variations from Don Quixote and Flames of Paris at YAGP and in 2018 was given the opportunity to perform a student role in Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker. She has also performed in many originally choreographed ballets and Christian contemporary/lyric pieces including The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, performed annually in Lexington. Ms. LaFountain started teaching ballet at fifteen and has taught at Willmore Christian Ballet, Gloria Deo School of the Arts, Dancer’s Pointe, and Kentucky Ballet Theatre. Ms. LaFountain is excited to begin her first season as a student trainee with Kentucky Ballet Theatre and continue teaching at KBT Academy.
