Educational Outreach
KBT's Committment
Kentucky Ballet Theatre’s outreach programs bring the art of ballet beyond the stage and into the community, offering meaningful, accessible experiences for students and audiences of all backgrounds. Designed to inspire creativity, encourage artistic expression, and support educational growth, each program blends live performance with interactive learning. As arts education funding continues to decline across Kentucky, these programs play an increasingly vital role in ensuring students still have access to high-quality arts experiences. To deepen the impact, KBT has also developed supplemental educational materials to help measure student engagement and learning outcomes.

Main Stage Productions School Show Program
The KBT professional company presents 1 - 2 Main Stage productions each season at the Lexington Opera House and other performance venues.
These programs will include a 45-60 minute performance, followed by a Q & A session with interactive student demonstrations.
Capacity for this program is large and dependent on the size of the performance venue. The cost is $10 per student.
KBT on Tour:
Outreach School Visit & Workship Program
KBT on Tour is a customized school performance and school visit in which KBT’s professional company members will travel to your school and put on an hour and fifteen minute program. KBT is now accepting “School Visit Inquiries & Reservations” for program dates between September 1 through May 15 each year.
The program includes performance excerpts from holiday or story book performances -- a Q & A session and some interactive student demonstrations. KBT is able to accommodate 200-600 students and they only require a school theater, gym floor, or auditorium to carry out the program. Educational materials will be made available for school faculty to implement in the classroom before or after the program.

A Day of Ballet
Students spend the day at Kentucky Ballet Theatre studios in activities that include participating in a “Ballet Basics” class, observing a professional company performance rehearsal, taking part in a costume discussion, and learning a little French terminology and ballet history. This program can accommodate up to 50 participants.
Materials can be sent electronically to teachers preceding the programs to maximize the benefit to the students.
