Kentucky Ballet Theatre Academy

Exceptional Classical Dance Training for Life

In the KBT Academy students have the rare opportunity to be taught, be coached, and perform

with the ballerinas they grow up loving.

Academy Director Rafaela Risco is passionate about the art of teaching and works tirelessly to train her faculty all the while delivering the best instruction for classical ballet in the Bluegrass, offering 30+ classes a week.

Children as young as three are able to start the KBT curriculum, and at age four may audition for small roles in the professional company's larger ballets such as the Nutcracker, the Wizard of Oz, and Beauty & the Beast.

Students also enjoy their own "End of the Year Performance" each May. The show features each level's growth throughout the season, followed by a ceremony certifying the students prepared to advance.

Several select students have earned scholarships in nationally recognized, ballet-focused high school programs,

such as the Harid Conservatory, Boston Ballet, and others.

Upon Academy graduation, many students are qualified to and audition for professional companies and collegiate programs across the country.

KBT also offers an adult track of classes for those interested in learning, revisiting or wanting to learn the ballet basics.

Adult Beginning/Intermediate classes are on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
