About KBT

Kentucky Ballet Theatre was created in 1998 and is Lexington’s premier professional ballet company, that also supports an Academy which is an integral part of the organization. The Academy offers disciplined, classical, ballet training for students of all ages, including adults. KBT is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors.

Mission Statement

To provide Lexington and Central Kentucky with artistic, cultural, and educational enrichment as a professional ballet company through performances of original works, classical ballet, and educational programming; offer artistic and educational opportunities to communities around the state for underserved populations with touring and school shows; provide classical dance instruction open to students of all cultures, backgrounds, and ages through the Kentucky Ballet Theatre Academy; and offer performance opportunities for students with the KBT Professional Company.
