Don Quixote
About the Ballet
Inspired by the book "Don Quixote" by Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quixote follows the eccentric dreamer Don Quixote and his loyal squire, Sancho Panza, as they set off in search of adventure and honor. Along the way, they encounter the spirited Kitri and the charming Basilio, young lovers trying to escape a marriage arranged by Kitri’s father to the wealthy Gamache. Believing Kitri to be his ideal lady, Dulcinea, Don Quixote eagerly attempts to help the couple, often with comedic results.
As Kitri and Basilio fight for their future together, Don Quixote’s vivid imagination leads him into fantastical visions and misadventures, including his famous encounter with windmills he mistakes for giants. Filled with lively dancing, romance, comedy, and celebration, the ballet culminates in a joyful wedding that honors love, friendship, and the enduring spirit of adventure.
