Children's Division Levels
The Children’s Division in the Kentucky Ballet Theatre Academy is developed for children ages 2-7. We make dance fun while learning. The curriculum was created to encourage age-appropriate creativity, musicality, and physicality. Levels include:

Creative MovementAbout CM1: This class is designed for children 3-5 who are toilet trained and ready for group classes. This 45- minute class meets one day. Children will begin to learn the elements of creative movement and ballet: Socialization skills such as turn-taking and following instructions will be emphasized. The dancers are encouraged to expand their movement vocabulary through games and creative exploration of dance movements. Self-esteem and confidence is developed while dancers are having fun.

Pre-Ballet 1About PB1: This level is designed for children ages 5-6. This 1.5 hour class meets Saturdays. This class is perfect for the young beginner and continues the teaching of previous classes. Additional ballet terms, posture, stretches, and barre work are introduced as well as specific focus on class etiquette and respect.

Pre-Ballet 2About PB 2: This level is designed for children ages 6-7. In addition to the 1-hour ballet class, students take a 30-minute strengthening/stretching class. Classes meet on Saturday mornings. This class is perfect for the young beginner and continues the teaching of previous classes. Additional ballet terms, posture, stretches, and barre work are introduced as well as specific focus on class etiquette and respect. Classes offered include strength and ballet.
Beginning Division Levels
The Beginning Division is designed for students wanting to pursue Classical Ballet training. Our curriculum allows boys and girls to gain confidence in their dancing with the support of caring and nurturing faculty. Students work on strength, balance, and flexibility while studying the principles of ballet. Training develops a strong foundation of physical and mental understanding necessary for Classical Ballet training. Multiple performance opportunities are available. Levels include:

Dress Code & Uniforms
The student dress code or uniform maintains the tradition and aesthetic of classical ballet. Therefore, appropriate class attire is required. Please carefully review the following uniform requirements listed for your child’s class level. Students dressed inappropriately for class will not be allowed to participate, but will remain in the studio and observe.

All girls must come to class with hair up in a tight bun.

It is mandatory that every uniform have the KBT logo embroidered. All students must come to
class with the corresponding dress code for their level.

Cover-ups are not mandatory. However, if you choose to wear one, only the ones listed are
allowed.

Ballet skirts are not permitted for levels Beginning C through Advanced & all Pre-professional
levels.

It is advisable for students to have their name on the tag of leotards, tights & shoes.
